This is spring

Spring is such a fleeting season in Toronto - blink and it's summer already.

This has been especially true of this spring. March was unusually mild and dry, and April was more like June (except for this week!), and the result is a glorious spring-y April.

I walk through the same parkette every morning afternoon on my journey to and from work. The south side of the park is lined with lilac trees bursting with buds. Even though the flowers have yet to open, a breath of lilac hints of scents to come.

The trees are on the threshold of fullness - that stage when the buds still fiercely cling to their charges, the leaves bursting out of the pods lusting for sunlight. I love this time of year full of promise of long summer days ahead.

These photos were taken last friday at Monarch Park. The colours were so vibrant, as if they had been photoshopped! And I managed to capture the moon just past first quarter phase peeking around the trees. I love days like this - they are so invigorating, the colours so inspiring.

I haven't forgotten about my other creative project - I just haven't had time to get out there and take some photos. But, hopefully this weekend I will find an hour or two!

Enjoy the spring before it is swallowed up by summer :-)
